Montessori Music Education

Music specialist Kristen Birley (a Selkirk Montessori graduate!) takes Kindergarten/Preschool and grade 1 and 2 students for a comprehensive music program.  She also provides music enrichment for the all-day program in the Casa and leads the junior choir (grades 3 and 4).

In grades 3, 4, and 5, music specialist Brooke Maxwell teaches the students a variety of percussion instruments, recorders and guitars. Brooke also teaches band for students in grades 6 -8 and conducts the senior choir (grades 5-8).

Kindergarten/Preschool students participate in musical celebrations in their classrooms, during assemblies and at a year-end concert in June.  All elementary and middle school students take part in assemblies, concerts and performances throughout the year.
