Administration

Our administrative team is here to support students, families, and staff every day. Whether you have a question about admissions, need help with a form, or just want to learn more about the school, we're always happy to help. You'll often find us greeting families at drop-off, answering phones, and making sure everything behind the scenes runs like clockwork.

Our leadership team brings together years of experience in education, a deep understanding of Montessori philosophy, and a genuine love for this community. They know students by name, understand families' needs, and are committed to creating a school environment where everyone feels welcome and supported.

Erin Hayes

Head of School

Erin Hayes is the Head of School at Selkirk Montessori. She enjoys watching every child in the school develop a love for learning and she’s passionate about helping all students reach their full potential.  Erin is fully committed to the values and concepts underpinning Montessori education. She has a strong grasp of current educational realities and she’s motivated by finding strategies to ensure that children thrive, treat each other with grace and courtesy, gain confidence and embrace independence.

Erin loves working with educators and encourages professional development that inspires them to create a classroom environment that is respectful, inclusive, interactive and fun.  Erin first came to Selkirk Montessori as a practicum student from the University of Victoria and joined the staff after earning her teaching degree. Erin now holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and has worked with every group from Preschool-Kindergarten to the senior class.

When Erin isn’t at the school, she enjoys spending time with her family and reading everything she can get her hands on about education.

Marie Sykes

Marie has seen three children through our programs so she is very familiar with them!  She has a special way with our wee ones, always down at their level and helping them with their big feelings.  She holds a BA (Early Childhood Studies) from the University of Manchester, a post graduate in teaching and a Masters degree in Special Education at UVic. She enjoys quality time with the family and her dogs, Bailey and Chester.

Sara McCormick

Sara McCormick is our Business Manager.  She has many years experience working in accounting and office administration at a variety of offices in Victoria.  She has a daughter who just began swimming competitively. Sara recently finished an anthropology degree and also loves to garden, hike and travel.

Radhika Baranwal

Administrative Assistant

Radhika is the newest addition to our team. She brings over five years of administrative experience and holds a Master’s degree. With her strong background, friendly nature, and positive attitude, she’s already a great fit in our school community. Outside of work, Radhika enjoys exploring new places and loves trying different cuisines. We’re excited to have her with us and look forward to all that she’ll bring to the role.

Charlotte Close

Reception/Administrative Staff

Charlotte is thrilled to be the newest addition to the Selkirk Administration team. She brings a wide variety of experience in administration, facilities management, and HR. She also has spent the last two years nannying, and has previously worked in a kindergarten in Germany. When not in the office she is most likely with her wife, Brenda, and dog, Cookie. The three of them enjoy hiking, travelling, and cooking.
