Developing independence and critical thinking

In an exciting research style of learning, students work in small groups on projects that spark the imagination and engage the intellect while developing reasoning abilities and life skills.

The child who has felt a strong love for his surroundings and for all living creatures, who has discovered joy and enthusiasm in work, gives us reason to hope.
- Maria Montessori

The Reasoning Mind

Children at this age have an appetite to understand the universe and their place in it. Studies span geography, biology, history, language, mathematics, science, music, and art. This inclusive approach to education fosters a feeling of connectedness to all humanity and encourages their natural desire to make contributions to the world.

Areas of Learning

Great Lessons

Five interconnected stories present the creation of the universe, the coming of life, the arrival of humans, the development of language, and the story of mathematics. These inspiring narratives spark curiosity and provide context for all subsequent learning.

Research & Projects

Students pursue in-depth research on topics of personal interest, developing skills in investigation, collaboration, and presentation. Small group projects encourage peer learning and allow children to explore subjects across disciplines.

Going Out

Field studies extend learning beyond the classroom to community resources including libraries, universities, museums, nature centers, and local businesses. These experiences connect academic concepts to real-world applications.

Mathematics & Sciences

Moving from concrete materials to abstract concepts, students explore operations, fractions, geometry, and algebra. Science investigations encourage hypothesis testing, observation, and documentation of discoveries.
